Don’s Copiers Plus Inc. is a family owned and operated business that has be servicing the Shawnee and surrounding areas since 1966. Don’s Copiers Plus Inc. was founded by Raymond L. Holland, Carl Webb, and Joe Martin.
In 1959 Raymond Holland was involved in a car accident; as a result, he lost his right leg. At the time Mr. Holland was driving trucks for a living. During his rehabilatation he was taught the trade of repairing typewriters. Once out of Rehab, and in need of a new job, he was hired by Joe & Carl at the Pott County Book Store. After a few years the typewriter business had grown to the point of standing on its own, so the three men formed Business Machines of Shawnee Inc.
Raymond would be named as “President” of the company and Joe & Carl, along with Raymond, would be partners in the business. Over the years, the company evolved, as did the office equipment industry, and typewriters became less and less the main focus. Raymond starting selling Savin Copy machines in the early 1970’s, as well as other office equipment like typewriters, calculators, dictating machines, etc. In 1985 Joe Martin Passed away, leaving only Raymond and Carl Webb. The two men worked out an agreement for Joe & Carl’s share of the stock in the business, and Raymond and his wife Jo Ann Holland were now the sole owners and operators of Business Machines of Shawnee Inc.
Jo Ann Holland had joined her husband as a full-time employee in 1982. She eventually bought her own shares of stock to become Raymond’s ultimate partner in business and in life. Raymond and Jo Ann’s son Donald R. Holland, joined the business full time in 1989 after graduating from OSU Tech in Okmulgee. Shortly after, they decided to change the name to Don’s Copiers Plus Inc. The reason for the change was to eliminate any confusion between the company and a competitor with a very similar name. Don also bought some of his own shares of stock to become a partner with his parents, and later took over day to day operation from his father, and became “President” of Don’s Copiers Plus Inc., only the second in the company’s year history. Raymond and Jo Ann’s youngest son, , Steven W. Holland would also join the company full time in 1995.
In 1998 Raymond Holland suffered a major stoke that left him unable to perform his duties of running a business and forced him to retire. Jo Ann Holland retired in 2004. Raymond passed away in November of 2008 and Jo Ann passed in June of 2016. Don and Steve continue to own and operate the company. 57 years after being founded, typewriters, dictation equipment and calculators are a thing of the past, however, the Ricoh line of digital MFP’s and other office equipment are the main focus today as well as helping customers streamline their workflows and processes.
